Argh what a week! Yesterday was supposed to be GiveawAY TuesdAY, but of course, bloggity-blog never got posted, so just for this week (barring further insanities) it's GiveawAY WednesdAY...
So last week was a lunacy of signings and marketing stuff for Sirenz, and of course, the Mert's birthday (Happy Birthday, Mert!) and Synchronized Swimming show. Only me. In between all of this, it didn't help that I read a most excellent blog post by Jim Hines on the fabulousness of literary agents. That in and of itself was great, but it was this quote that stuck in my head:
“Keep focusing on writing better and better stories. If you aren’t spending more time learning how to tell a better story than marketing or mailing, then none of this will matter.”
Bleurgh. Sometimes I feel that all I DO is marketing--but it is necessary. I think the trick is finding the balance. I have more to say on that in a post that's coming up in the next week about my little experiment on blogging every day for a month--but the experiment isn't quite over yet. More on that in a bit. In the mean time, let's get on with this giveaway!
One stop on our November tour was one of my favorite Indie bookshops in the world--Books of Wonder in New York (which now has a pop-up Alice's Tea Cup inside *twirls*). I was there quite a bit this month--this past Thursday with a clutch of my fellow Elevensies. It was fab. Fab. Fab. Fab. And I want to do something(s) to honor that visit. So lets start with this. I give you the lovely Victoria Schwab, author of The Near Witch, who you might recognize from websites such as Victoria Schwab, YA author and twitter posts via @veschwab...
Victoria, shot from above. Always shoot from above...
And here is her lovely book which is chilling and lyrical and all things amazing...
This really is one of my favorite covers...
Of course, you would love to have a copy of this book--a signed copy of this book. A signed copy with Victoria's signature reading narwhal I <3 Books stamp--and I must add, the very FIRST book that was stamped with her signature reading narwhal I <3 Books stamp. Oh, yes.
Narwhal, cross between dolphin and unicorn. What could be better than that?!
I can hear you asking now, "What, must I do, Nat, to win such a prize?" The deets:
* Leave me a comment with your name and email below--that's it!
* If you follow my blog--that'll get you another entry. :)
* If you spread the word via twitter--use the hashtag #narwhal in your post--that'll get you yet ANOTHER entry. >:)
A drawing of all entries will be done on Wednesday, November 30--the day I meet with my writing group. The contest will make me feel better after they shred my WIP. I have to look into getting one of those schmancy contest tabulating-drawing thingees. For now though, it's print outs, scissors and a paper bag. And yes--THIS IS INTERNATIONAL!!!
Happy Thanksgiving everyone! If you're in the states, have a wonderful holiday weekend--and the rest of the world, a wonderful weekend with all sorts of wishes and blessings and stuff <3
