Once again I am fashionably late to the party. I absolutely *loved* participating in the A to Z blog Challenge last year that I just had to do it again. A refresher: Blog every day for the month of April, save for Sundays: 26 days, 26 letters, 26 posts.
I played with a couple of ideas for themes, and was going to do something travel-ish that could connect to Mapping the Magic, and then I thought, NO. No no no no... I need to do something unrelated to Mapping, which, though I love it CANNOT be all consuming. And then yesterday I got these in the mail:
I love My Little Pony: the characters, the art, its positive message. A little side trip to Equestria never fails to raise my spirits, and NOW I can go there through the Tarot! There are several artists who have melded the world of Equestria with the Tarot--it's kind of a natural fit. The symbolism is certainly there. Playing with the MLP-based majors only deck took me back to when I was developing what would become Graven Images Oracle. That deck started out as a Tarot deck with a cemetery theme--until my coauthor suggested that while the Tarot structure would certainly work cemetery imagery had a vast and symbolic depth that warranted its OWN structure. I think we're dealing with the same thing here (the thought occurred to me when I found myself wishing for a Maud Pie card). And so, I give you:

Featuring 26 elements of Equestria...
With 26 ruminations on how each can be used for divination and meditation...
Characters (The "Mane" Six, Luna, Trixie, etc.) Places (Manehattan, Ponyville, etc.) Events (The Grand Galloping Gala), and Objects (books, jewels, etc.) are ripe for interpretation because of their hefty symbolic value, personalities... you see where I'm going with this. The beauty of this is that it is so accessible--particularly with the many MLP Gaming Card Systems (although readings can be also done with a pile of MLP figures, plushies--your choice). And as the show and the world and the characters develop--so does the oracle. I'm getting the shivers.
I would love to hear what MLP and Tarot folks think of this--and as we go through each letter, what feelings, vibes, thoughts, messages you get from each Element of Equestria that's covered. Each element will mean different things to different people at different times. And then... I think we should do some practice readings--but we'll save that for May! ♥
